Char Dham Yatra 2025: Important Dates
The portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri will open on April 30, 2025. The Badrinath temple will open on May 4, 2025, at 6 a.m. The opening date for Kedarnath will be announced on Mahashivratri, which falls on February 26, 2025.
Char Dham Yatra: Significance

According to Hindu scriptures, undertaking the Char Dham Yatra washes away sins and helps in attaining salvation. The pilgrimage is considered a path to spiritual growth and liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Many devotees believe that visiting these shrines brings peace and fulfillment.
Char Dham Yatra: Registration Process
Registration for the Char Dham Yatra 2025 will be available both online and offline. The online registration will cover 60% of the total slots, while offline registration will account for 40%.
For the first 15 days, offline registration will be open 24 hours a day. After this, timings may change depending on the demand. If conditions remain stable, registration hours may be adjusted from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
To facilitate the registration process, 20 centers will be set up in Haridwar and Rishikesh, along with 15 counters in Vikasnagar. Pilgrims can register through the official Uttarakhand government portal at registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in, starting from March 1, 2025.

Yamunotri Temple

Yamunotri Temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Located in Uttarkashi district, it marks the source of the Yamuna River. The temple was built by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal. Pilgrims need to trek 6 kilometers from Janki Chatti to reach the temple.
Gangotri Temple

Gangotri Temple is dedicated to the River Ganga and is situated at an altitude of about 3,048 meters. It is one of the highest temples devoted to Goddess Ganga. The temple is surrounded by Himalayan landscapes and holds deep spiritual significance.
Kedarnath Temple

Kedarnath Temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Located at an altitude of 3,584 meters, it is one of the most sacred temples in Hinduism. According to legend, the Pandavas built the original structure, and Adi Shankaracharya later renovated it.
Badrinath Temple

Badrinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Badrinarayan, a form of Vishnu. The temple houses a 3.3-foot black stone idol that dates back to the Vedic Age. While the structure has undergone multiple renovations, the inner sanctum has remained unchanged since the ninth century.
